INCIDENCE OF SURGICAL SITE INFECTION IN ABDOMINAL SURGERY IN A TERTIATY CARE CENTER IN ASSAM

Background: Despite the advancement in sterilization methods, aseptic and antiseptic practices, still post-operative surgical site infections are a dilemma for practicing surgeons, not only that it increases morbidity mortality of patient but also money expenditure post op hospital stay. Incidence each hospitals is thereby important so as to have check improving quality care. Materials methods: The study was conducted from June 2020 May 2021 total 150 patients JMCH. Wound swabs were collected isolating organisms causing infection, whenever an infection detected according CDC/NNIS criteria. Results: abdominal surgery found be 13.3% our study. most common organism wound Klebsiella. Conclusion: shows incidence SSI similar other studies.
